Description

Coolidge inscribes to a former US Treasurer

Vintage matte-finish 6.5 x 8.25 head-and-shoulders portrait, affixed to a slightly larger, personalized mount, signed and inscribed in fountain pen, “To Daniel N. Morgan, With Regards, Calvin Coolidge.” Poor contrast to the signature and inscription against the dark background, but still legible, otherwise fine condition. Morgan served as Treasurer of the United States under Grover Cleveland from 1893 to 1897, and his signature appears on the United States’ currency from that period. Treasurer Morgan pens notes on the reverse, “Photograph of President of the United States sent as requested November 10, 1923, signed–November 12, 1923—To Daniel N. Morgan, With Regards, Calvin Coolidge, Received by special delivery (letter received) November 4, 1923.” Pre-certified John Reznikoff/PSA/DNA and RR Auction COA.
