Brooks writes the final line from the poem, ‘The Second Sermon on the Warpland,’ “Conduct your blooming in the noise and whip of the whirlwind”; and a ballpoint signature, “Gwendolyn Brooks, 7428 S. Evans Avenue, Chicago, Illinois 60619,” on brown, irregularly trimmed 3.5 x 3.5 sheet, most likely clipped from the return address of an envelope.
