TLS signed “The Kid!,” one page, 6.5 x 8.75, personal letterhead, March 7, 1983. Sinatra writes to George Burns, addressing the letter to “Silverthroat,” in full: “Your contribution to the Queen’s party has people still talking. I don’t know what they’re talking about, but they’re still talking. For myself, I was looking at your clothing and I’d like to know who’s your tailor! No jokes George, I love you dearly for being the friend that you are.” In fine condition, with some light creasing and toning. In March of 1983, the Reagans hosted a party in honor of Queen Elizabeth, and gave Sinatra the responsibility of organizing the dinner at the 20th Century Fox Studio in Hollywood. It was an infamous momentus evening—Sinatra bungled his lines, forgot to announce the queen, opting to blow kisses to the First Lady instead, and became exceedingly rude when Elizabeth turned down his offer to tour the studio. Burns was also part of the entertainment, delivering off color jokes, some of which, according to Frank, had “people still talking.” The Reagans were humiliated, and their attempt to show appreciation for the hospitality they received while at Windsor Castle had, much in part to Sinatra, been miserably botched.
