Hoover delivers news of multiple promotions to an FBI colleague

Four TLSs, each signed, “J. E. Hoover,” ranging in size from 6.5 x 9 to 8 x 10.5, Federal Bureau of Investigation letterhead, each a response to William A. Johnson of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, three of which provide financial details of individual promotions, dated January 4, 1936, October 29, 1937, and May 16, 1942, and the last outlining the details of Johnson’s retirement annuity checks. The 1942 letter is stapled to two letters, one from Johnson, and one from the attorney general, Francis Biddle. Scattered light surface creasing, uniform toning, and two punch holes to the top edge of each sheet, otherwise fine condition. RRAuction COA.
