“I realized just how many quotes I’d given out over the past year—and decided to call a halt”

American novelist (1917–1994) best known as the author of Psycho, the novel upon which Alfred Hitchcock based his 1960 horror classic. ALS signed “Robert,” one page, 6 x 7, personal letterhead, September 21, 1990. Letter to Jeff Gelb regarding the possibility of writing a foreword. In part: “You didn’t get my response! Which has gone to a number of people since July—at which time I realized just how many quotes I’d given out over the past year—and decided to call a halt because their multiplicity in the year to come would make them meaningless.” In fine condition. Accompanied by the original mailing envelope as well as a certificate of authenticity from Gelb. RRAuction COA.
