In full: “My Song, entitled ‘Listen to the Mocking Bird’ was written in the Spring of 1855, and copyrighted April 15th, 1855, and was done at Philadelphia. It is strange that so popular a musical composition, should have been done in the ‘Quaker City,’ and I judge from the wording of your note that you are of the Society of Friends, being somewhat of that calling myself.
