American oil tycoon (1889-1974), Hunt built his oil dynasty by trading poker winnings for oil rights, eventually owning a vast majority of the East Texas Oil Field. At the time of his death, he held the title of wealthiest person, worldwide, and his three wives and many offspring were the inspiration for the wildly popular show, Dallas, which ran from 1978–1991.
