Pioneering feminist (1815–1902) who, at the first women’s rights convention in Seneca Falls, New York in 1848, presented her “Declaration of Sentiments,” outlining her view of the rights and aims of American women and contributing in no small part to the adoption of women’s suffrage more than half a century later.
