Undefeated heavyweight boxing champion who died in a plane crash in 1969. Partial ALS signed at its conclusion “Rocky Marciano,” one page both sides of Hotel Times Square stationery, 6 x 9. In part, the letter begins: “the following morning the result or what round I knocked him out in. Today I worked hard I did two 1/2 miles of road work. I boxed two hard rounds and an additional six round of the other. Tomorrow I’ll box again but I’ll take it easy for Monday. The guy’s name whose [sic] boxing me Monday is Ron Rinf I don’t know a thing about him it’s a six. I’ll be home next Saturday for sure anyway honey I really missed you today no kidding. I mean more today than any other day since I’ve been here. I hope you have next weekend off so we can be together…Your picture is on my radio top right next to me so as I write I keep looking up at it. I’m not much for writing this stuff about love, but if you knew how I feel now you’d be mighty happy.” Toning along the mailing folds and some scattered soiling, otherwise fine condition. Accompanied by a full letter of authenticity from PSA/DNA. Marciano handwritten letters, particularly with any mention of boxing, are quite scarce. RRAuction COA.
