Italian composer (1857–1919) best known for his operas, particularly the beloved repertoire staple ‘Pagliacci’ (1892). AMQS signed “R. Leoncavallo,” on the correspondence side of a postcard bearing images of Leoncavallo and Bellini. The composer pens four bars of music and lyrics from Act II of Roland, signing underneath, “R. Leoncavallo, Lisbon 25 marzo 1906.” Postcard also bears a March 27, 1906, postal cancellation. In fine condition, with scattered light toning and soiling and a postage stamp and cancellation to lower left. RRAuction COA.
