French painter (1885–1956). ALS in French, one page both sides, 6.25 x 8.25, personal letterhead, no date. Letter to friends. In full (translated): “That’s really great—and what champagne! After the holidays we’ll drink it in company together, I hope. Yesterday was a sad day. I took some strangers to see my little houses in Champrosay. I want to see them—and I was dealing with people who are very rich, I think. My thatched roof cottages made a poor impression on them. As a result I thought everything was flat especially the countryside and the sky. When I got back I didn’t touch your marvellous champagne but drank red wine. I had a good sleep, and just like that, in the morning I was that energetic woman who is M.L.” Some scattered mild toning and slight surface loss to top edge, with a few letters of location and possible date traced over in another hand, otherwise fine condition. RRAuction COA.
