Description

Ten days after the former president’s Alzheimer’s admission, Nancy confides to Ann Landers: “I thought Ronnie’s letter was really noble, touching (I cried!) and typical Ronald Reagan”

ALS signed “Nancy,” on both sides of her 5.75 x 4.5 personal notecard, no date, but postmarked November 15, 1994. Letter of thanks to her friend, Eppie Lederer (aka Ann Landers). In full: “Thanks so much for your kind note—and for sending me the column from Chicago which I hadn’t seen. How nice and kind they were. I thought Ronnie’s letter was really noble, touching (I cried!) and typical Ronald Reagan—no one else could have written it. We both hope it will help other people who have the same disease—according to the response we’ve had—which has been so heartwarming—I think that’s what’s happening. Many thanks again for your thoughtfulness—hope to see you soon.” In fine condition. Accompanied by the original mailing envelope, addressed in Reagan’s hand. Ten days earlier, her husband had informed the nation he had been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s Disease, closing his letter to the nation with the famous line “I now begin the journey that will lead me into the sunset of my life.” A rare and emotionally heartfelt glimpse at Nancy Reagan’s take on her husband’s groundbreaking admission. Pre-certified PSA/DNA and RR Auction COA.
