Shalem Aleichem

Born Solomon Rabinowitz (1859–1916), Russian-born Jewish humorist whose stories and plays, originally written in Yiddish, were the basis for the musical Fiddler on the Roof. ALS in Hebrew, one page, 5.25 x 8.5, Regina Hotel, Lugano letterhead. Writing from Switzerland, Aleichem states that he has to go to Italy again due to his illness, although he had hoped to be cured in 1908. He also writes that his wife is leaving for Russia and hopes to meet after Passover. In very good condition, with central horizontal fold, two punch holes to top edge, and scattered toning and soiling. RRAuction COA.
