A kind word to shady MGM executive Eddie Mannix

Film producer and cofounder of MGM (1879–1974). TLS signed “Sam,” one page, 7.25 x 10.5, personal letterhead, March 18, 1947. Letter to Eddie Mannix. In full: “I appreciate your sending me such a nice note as you know, and always have known, what a deep affection I have for you.” In fine condition, with some mild edge toning. Mannix was a vice president of Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer and reputedly connected to the underworld. He was rumored to be complicit in cover-ups involving the deaths of Three Stooges founder Ted Healy as well as Superman actor George Reeves, with whom his second wife Toni Mannix had a long open affair. Pre-certified PSA/DNA and RR Auction COA.
