Two one-page TLSs: a letter dated February 18, 1953, to Louis Untermeyer, reads, in part: “Someday I must put on smoked glasses and a long false beard and sneak into one of your lectures. I would probably learn something, so long as you didn’t know I was there…It is very nice to know that you would like to reprint the chapter ‘A Man Among Men,’ from ‘The City Boy”; the second letter, dated December 6, 1960, also to Untermeyer, sends an invitation for a visit, “If you ever feel a yen for Caribbean sunshine and take a trip to the West Indies, don’t forget I live on this bizarre rock.” In very good condition, with scattered toning to first letter and trimmed edges to second letter. Accompanied by one of the original mailing envelopes and a carbon of a 1960 letter sent to Wouk. RRAuction COA.
