TLS, one page, 8 x 10.5, NASA letterhead, January 15, 1970. Letter to a gentleman at Taliesin regarding the moon stamp. In full: “Thank you very much for your kind letter of congratulations on the successes of Apollo XI. In answer to your question, the moon stamp was cancelled on the first day of the journey back to earth. The cancellation was completed simultaneously by all three crew members. The stamp has been returned to the Postmaster General for his disposition. The die was carried to the surface of the moon aboard the Eagle.” In very good condition, with moderate creasing and wrinkling, none adversely affecting signature. A highly desirable piece of correspondence as Armstrong mentions Apollo XI, the moon, and Eagle all in the same paragraph. Pre-certified Scott Cornish and RR Auction COA.
