LS as president signed “Benj. Harrison,” two pages on two adjoining sheets, 5 x 8, black-bordered Executive Mansion letterhead, March 2, 1893. Letter to Charles Hedges written just two days before leaving office. In full: “I want to assure you that I am very much pleased to accept the portfolio of engravings and the books which you sent me this morning. I have very highly appreciated your friendly acts during my administration and am sorry that I was not able more fully to meet your wishes. I shall always be glad to see you.” In fine condition, with central horizontal and vertical fold, one through a single letter of signature, and a fragile hinge. Hedges published a book one month earlier titled, Speeches of Benjamin Harrison. A Complete Collection of his Public Addresses from February 1888, to February, 1892.
