A humble Roosevelt sends thanks for a book on public speaking: “I am sure I shall enjoy it and profit by it, and I am flattered that you should have included me among the men from whom you quote”

TLS, one page, 6.75 x 7.5, The Outlook letterhead, April 17, 1913. Letter to Edwin Lawrence, headed “Private” at the top. In full: “I am very much obliged to you for letting me see your book ‘How to Master the Spoken Word.’ I am sure I shall enjoy it and profit by it, and I am flattered that you should have included me among the men from whom you quote. Let me take the opportunity to thank you, my dear Sir, for what you did last campaign.
