Sherlock Holmes’s landlady tends to the Hollywood canteen

Scottish-born actress (1882–1963) best known for her role as landlady Mrs. Hudson in the Sherlock Holmes movies of the 1930s and 1940s. She also had several bit roles in Universal’s Frankenstein, Bride of Frankenstein, The Invisible Man, and The Mummy’s Tomb. Vintage fountain pen signature and inscription, “Hello Roberta, Your aunty Ruth & Anise wash dishes at the Hollywood Canteen. I do too. We have lots of fun. My love & good wishes to you always. Mary Gordon,” on an off-white 4.5 x 7 album page. In very good condition, with uniform toning, a few edge chips, paper loss to top edge and two reinforced punch holes to top.
