The last ‘Deadwood Dick’ writes a resident of the Windy City

English frontiersman and scout in the United States (1845–1930) who was the inspiration for the character Deadwood Dick. Fountain pen signature, “Richard Wm. Clarke, (Deadwood Dick), Deadwood, So. Dak.,” at the return address portion of an off-white 6 x 3.5 envelope with a typed mailing address in Chicago. In very good condition, with vertical central fold, portion of the envelope along the right side missing below the stamp, uniform toning, and mild to moderate soiling. The envelope is postmarked January 15, 1930, less than four months before his death. RRAuction COA.
