Charles Dana Gibson

American artist (1867–1944) whose distinctive ‘Gibson Girl’ illustrations defined the image of American women at the turn of the 20th century. ALS signed “C. D. Gibson,” two pages on two adjoining sheets, 5.5 x 8.5, Seven Hundred Acre Island, Dark Harbor, Maine letterhead, no date. In part: “Just rec’d you letter and will lose no time in saying that I am delighted to hear you are back on the job. I am sure you and Mallory will get on and will look forward with interest to see things happen. I hope to have something to show you before long. I am at it every day.” Central horizontal fold, a few spots of toning, small stain at the top left corner, and light wrinkling, otherwise fine condition. RRAuction COA.
