TLS signed “Wm. H. Taft,” one page, 7 x 9, personal letterhead, August 4, 1921. Letter of thanks to a San Diego bank president. In part: “I thank you for writing me an expression of your happiness upon my appointment to be Chief Justice. Please extend my thanks to Mrs. Davidson, who joined with you in your note.” Letter is affixed by its second integral page to a slightly larger black scrapbook page.
