William Heath

Distinguished major general in the Continental Army (1737–1814) who organized and trained the undisciplined forces at Cambridge before the Battle of Bunker Hill. Partly-printed DS, signed “W. Heath,” one page, 8 x 12.75, August 19, 1811. State of Massachusetts probate document appointing a guardian to attend to the affairs of two minors, “Minot Richards and Samuel Richards…under the age of fourteen years, and children on James Richards the Second.” Signed at the conclusion in black ink by Heath. In very good condition, with scattered light toning and foxing, a couple small separations along fragile horizontal folds, small burn hole to top left, rough right edge, and thin mounting strip along right edge of reverse. The signature itself is bold and mostly unaffected. RRAuction COA.
