DS, signed “Victoria R,” one page, 15.5 x 12, November 22, 1881. In part: “The President of the United States of Columbia has by a commission…constituted Mr. Aloysius J. Kane to be Consul at Dover. And we having therefore approved of the said Aloysius J. Kane a Consul for the said United States.” Signed along the top by Victoria. Document has been linen backed and folds to be carried in an attached leather case, with Kane’s name embossed on the front. In very good condition, with intersecting folds, scattered toning and soiling, and aforementioned backing. The seal is worn, but intact. Pre-certified PSA/DNA and RRAuction COA.
