Description

Three weeks after making aviation history in 1927, Lindbergh signs an uncommon oversized likeness of himself near the Spirit of St. Louis

Outstanding vintage matte-finish 10.5 x 13 Underwood and Underwood photo of Lindbergh posing in front of his Spirit of St. Louis, signed and inscribed in the lower border in fountain pen “To Mr. Fred Buchholz, Charles A. Lindbergh, June 12, 1927.” In fine condition, with some mild edge toning and a bit of trivial silvering to darker portions of background. Accompanied by a full letter of authenticity from PSA/DNA.

Scarcely three weeks had passed between the time Lindbergh rose to instantaneous world fame for his solo nonstop flight and the day he signed this spectacular portrait. Perhaps the ‘perfect storm’ of Lindbergh collectible, this large-sized image (an uncommon size for the era) pictures Lindbergh with the Spirit of St. Louis in view and signed and dated just days after making history!
