TLS signed “Darryl,” one page, 8.5 x 11, Research Council of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences letterhead, June 5, 1941. The film producer writes fellow producer and director Hal Roach as the nation heads toward World War II. In part: “All War Department Training Films being produced by the Research Council for the Army are restricted material and subject to very strict regulations. We have been instructed by the War Department to make certain that this material is properly handled, and we would consequently appreciate your issuing the necessary instructions to all those in your studio involved with the production of these Training Films as to the restricted nature of the material photographed on these Films.” Intersecting folds, moderate wrinkling, mild toning and soiling along the left side, and rust staining from a paper clip at the top corner, otherwise very good condition.
