The field marshal writes “My dear Burke” concerning a clothing purchase. in part: “On my return here yesterday I found the parcel of shirts waiting for me in Paris; they were safely delivered to me by Air France yesterday afternoon. The shirts are excellent in every respect and are exactly what I wanted. I am most grateful to you for having acted so promptly in the matter. Please give my grateful thanks to the salesman in the Shirts Department and to all of his colleagues. I often recall my visit to Altman and Co and have many happy recollections of the friendly greeting I received in every branch and from everyone.” He wrote the recipient’s name at the letter’s start and a closing sentiment prior to his signature. In very good condition, with central horizontal and vertical folds with a vertical fold passing through the middle of his first name, horizontal crease along the bottom border, wrinkling, and edge toning.
