Science fiction pioneer regrets missing “hearing what would be for me an extremely interesting discussion”

Eminent British writer (1866–1946) who pioneered the science fiction genre with such classic novels as The Time Machine, War of the Worlds, and The Invisible Man. ALS, one page, 4.5 x 7, Spade House letterhead, November 25, 1904. Letter to a gentleman. In full: “I regret very much that an engagement to dine on the 13th will prevent my hearing what would be for me an extremely interesting discussion.” In very good condition, with uniform block of toning over signature and text, and toning to each corner from old tape. Pre-certified PSA/DNA and RRAuction COA.
