DS, one page, 8.5 x 11, October 6, 1934. Agreement between Novarro and MGM stating that his contract with MGM will begin on October 6, 1934, instead of October 15. Signed at the bottom by Novarro and countersigned by notorious MGM studio executive Eddie Mannix. Punch holes to top edge, a couple pencil notations, and some scattered creases, otherwise fine condition.
Mannix, a longtime executive for Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, was nicknamed ‘The Fixer’ for his ability to smooth over incidents that could harm the studio. His unsavory dealings included allegations that he killed his first wife, was involved in the death of Jean Harlow’s husband Paul Bern, and was complicit in cover-ups involving the murders of Three Stooges founder Ted Healy and Superman actor George Reeves.
