Actress (born in 1912) who was discovered by Carl Laemmle, Jr., while eating lunch at the Universal Pictures commissary. She retired from films in 1942 and later began a second career as the manager of the Elizabeth Arden Salon in Beverly Hills. Vintage pearl-finish 8 x 10 double weight MGM publicity photo, credited to Ted Allen, signed and inscribed in-person in fountain pen “To Saul, Mary Carlisle, Aug. 3, 1936.” Reverse of photo bears collector’s stamp date of August 3, 1936, the date the signature was acquired.
