Description

Sartre inscribes his Sketch for a Theory of the Emotions for an important critic and editor

Highly influential French writer and philosopher (1905–1980), most closely associated with existentialism, who refused the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1964. Signed book: Esquisse D’Une Theoris des Emotions. First edition. Paris: Hermann and Cie, 1939. Softcover, 6.5 x 10, 54 pages. Signed and inscribed, in French, on the introduction page, to influential Belgian literary critic and editor of the French literary journal, L’Arc, Rene Micha, “A Rene Micha, tres cordialement, J. P. Sartre.” A few trivial spots to signed page, scattered toning to fore and top edges, partial separation to back hinge, and light toning to covers, otherwise fine condition. Interesting association as Sartre presents his own phenomenological analysis. RRAuction COA.
