Highly regarded Irish poet and playwright (1865–1939) recognized as one of the key figures in twentieth-century literature. AQS, signed “W. B. Yeats, March 21, 1921,” on an off-white slip. Yeats pens a quote from his poem ‘Nineteen Hundred and Nineteen.’ In full: “For gone are Phidias’ famous ivories and all the grasshoppers & bees.” Matted with a portrait of Yeats, to an overall size of 9 x 14. Some scattered light toning and foxing, otherwise fine condition. A scarce offering from one of literature’s most popular figures. Pre-certified PSA/DNA and RRAuction COA.
