Lawyer and politician (1817-1894) who served as the governor of Pennsylvania during the American Civil War. War-dated partly-printed DS, signed “A. G. Curtin,” one page, 17 x 13.25, February 14, 1863. Governor Curtin appoints Ira Burritt to the rank of First Lieutenant in Company “K” of the Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry. In very good condition, with partial separations along a couple of intersecting folds, scattered light toning, including a circular area of toning from the now missing seal, and a bit of light soiling.
