Mrs. Lincoln signs an envelope to the wife of the Chicago Postmaster

Address panel from one of her personal envelopes, 5 x 2.75, with restored black mourning borders, addressed in Lincoln’s hand to “Mrs. Co. Eastman, Metropolis Hotel, Chicago,” and signed in the lower left corner “Mrs. L.,” and also labeled at the top of the panel, “Private.” Panel is affixed to an identical size card, with portions of the back of the envelope affixed to reverse. In good condition, with aforementioned restored black borders, some of which have been touched up via black ink to card, scattered toning and soiling to panel, a few small edge tears, and soiling, notations and mounting remnants to reverse. Scarce in any form. Pre-certified John Reznikoff/PSA/DNA and RRAuction COA.
