Presidential Order, signed as president, “Dwight D. Eisenhower,” one page, 6 x 11, dated June 11, 1959. Order issued from the White House reads, in full: “Pursuant to the provisions of Section 3 of Reorganization Plan No. 8 of 1950, I hereby designate Earl W. Kintner as Chairman of the Federal Trade Commission.” Simply matted and framed to an overall size of 9 x 14. In fine condition, with a uniform shade of mild toning.
During his tenure as chairman from 1959 to 1961, Kintner revitalized the FTC, making it an aggressive defender of consumer interests by taking actions to halt false advertising of foods, drugs, cosmetics, and therapeutic devices. In 1960, a year after Kintner assumed the helm of the commission, the FTC issued a record 560 complaints, 410 orders involving monopolistic practices and 359 complaints against deceptive practices. Presidential Orders of this level are quite rare. Pre-certified John Reznikoff/PSA/DNA and RRAuction COA.
