Bank check, 5.5 x 2.25, filled out and signed by Fields, payable to his girlfriend Bessie Poole for $500.00, December 7, 1926. In fine condition, with expected stamps and holes and two vertical folds, one through a single letter of signature. Poole was a Ziegfeld Follies performer and met Fields while performing in New York City at the famous Amsterdam Theater. Her beauty and quick wit attracted Fields, who was the featured act from 1916 until 1922. She was killed in a bar fight several years later, leaving their son to be raised in foster care, Pre-certified PSA/DNA and RRAuction COA.
