Unique and fantastic gray scrapbook page, 9 x 14, featuring a semi-circular clipped early photo of the band, signed underneath the image in blue ballpoint, “George Harrison (bass),” “Paul McCartney (at the back),” “John Lennon (away ye go!)”, and “Ringo Starr drums,” with McCartney adding an inscription under the signatures, “All the best in the future Chet! Keep swinging!!” Affixed below the signatures is another clipped photo and caption. Inside of the gatefold of signed page and second integral page bears a 5 x 8 promotional handbill for The Pavilion in Bath, featuring the Beatles appearing on June 10th, along with the Colin Anthony Combo, and Chet and the Triumphs, the recipient of the signatures on the preceding page, as well as two business cards for Chet and the Triumphs. Opposite page bears six original candid glossy snapshots of Chet and various members of the Beatles, including photos of Chet posing individually with John Lennon and Ringo Starr, with captions written under each photo in an unknown hand. Reverse of second page bears an affixed signed and inscribed photo of Darcy Sheldon. In fine condition, with some mild edge toning and creasing, and light handling wear.
This incredibly early and playful ensemble reflects the love and admiration shown the Beatles by men and women, musicians and fans. For Chet and the Triumphs, the opportunity to meet the Beatles in 1963 was clearly a memorable one. With ‘Please Please Me’ number-one on the charts, the Fab Four found themselves in Bath, England, performing with the aforementioned groups after having just wrapped up a tour with Roy Orbinson. Despite their demigod status (which certainly trounced the fame and fortune of either Chet or Colin and their band mates several times over), John, Paul, George, and Ringo enjoyed the camaraderie, on display in the bold signatures and delightful candids. A remarkable one-of-a-kind presentation with ironclad built-in provenance! Pre-certified Roger Epperson/REAL and RRAuction COA.
