Gertrude Niesen

Singer (1911–1975) who appeared in eight films, and was the first to record Jerome Kern’s ‘Smoke Gets in Your Eyes.’ Vintage glossy 8 x 10 photo of Niesen slumped in a chair, signed and inscribed in-person in fountain pen “To Saul, Best wishes, Gertrude Niesen.” Reverse of photo bears collector’s stamp date of February 9, 1938, the date the signature was acquired. In fine condition, with a few light surface marks, some mild rippling to emulsion, and a few spots to border. Pre-certified PSA/DNA and RRAuction COA.
