Description

One of history's most prolific Signers

Signer of the Declaration of Independence from Connecticut (1721–1793) who was also the only man to also sign the Articles of Association, the Articles of Confederation, and the U.S. Constitution. Self-contained partial partly-printed DS, filled in and signed twice in the text by Sherman, "Roger Sherman," one page, 7.25 x 6, September 22, 1764. Document reads, in full: "To all People to whom these Presents shall come, Greeting, Know ye, That I Gamaliel Panter [sic, Painter] of Salisbury in the County of Litchfield in the Colony of Connecticut in New England. For the Consideration of Five pounds ten Shillings lawful money received to my full Satisfaction of Roger Sherman of the Town & County of New Haven in Said Colony do give, grant, bargain, sell, and confirm unto the said Roger Sherman his heirs and assigns forever Two acres and an half of Land in Said New Haven lying near the Ditch Corner in the Common Field called Plainfield being part of the nine acres which belonged to Mr John Dunbar Deceased Bounded Northerly by a Highway westerly & easterly by Said Sherman's Land Southerly by Doctr Timothy Mix's Land or Land which lately belonged to said Mix." In very good condition, with two vertical folds, and scattered toning, not affecting legibility. Pre-certified John Reznikoff/PSA/DNA and RRAuction COA.
