Buchanan transmits Polk's pardon of a man "convicted of passing counterfeit coin"

LS, one page, 8 x 9.75, August 14, 1846. Letter to Ely Moore, Esqr., Marshal of the United States for the Southern District of New York. In full: "I transmit herewith, the President's pardon of Francis Cordis, convicted of passing counterfeit coin, knowing them to be such, at the April term 1846 of the Circuit Court of the United States for the Southern District of New York. You will be pleased to acknowledge receipt." In very good condition, with uniform light toning, several diagonal creases, and scattered toning and soiling. An interesting letter from the Secretary of State, and future president. Pre-certified John Reznikoff/PSA/DNA and RRAuction COA.
