Description

Original production artwork of the Grinch

Scarce original color felt tip storyboard sketch from the animated classic How the Grinch Stole Christmas, 6.5 x 5.75, circa 1966. The sketch, on a printed sheet with the legend "M.G.M. Animation/Visual Arts," shows the Grinch in his sleigh pulled by Max the dog on a steep downward slope. The blank space below the image bears the penciled caption "Mad dash down steep slope, Max looks back" and is signed in pencil by Maurice Noble, Seuss' frequent animation collaborator and Grinch's designer. Sketch is affixed by its top edge to a slightly larger sheet. Tiny piece of cellophane tape to top edge and trivial scuff to one border, otherwise very fine, clean condition. Original Grinch-related art has become increasingly difficult to obtain in any form; examples with this level of visual appeal are quite elusive. RRAuction COA.
