Explorer and physician (1865–1940) who claimed to have reached the North Pole a year before Peary. His claim was later rejected on grounds of insufficient evidence. Two hardcover books: a first edition of My Attainment of the Pole, signed on the first free end page and again (upside down) on the last free end page, "Frederick Cook"; and a later printing of the same volume signed and inscribed on the first free end page.
