Tamara Karsavina

Russian ballerina (1885-1978), renowned for her beauty, who was most noted as a Principal Artist of the Imperial Russian Ballet and later the Ballets Russes of Serge Diaghilev. After settling in England, she began teaching ballet professionally and would become recognized as one of the founders of modern British ballet. Signed book: Theatre Street. Later printing. London: William Heinemann Ltd, 1930. Hardcover, 5.75 x 8.75, 341 pages. Signed and inscribed on the half-title page and dated 1930. In good condition, with moderate block of toning over signature, gift inscription under Karsavina's signature, moderate toning to opening pages, scattered foxing to signed page, opening and closing pages, and pastedowns, scattered wear and fraying to covers and spine, and some light foxing to fore-edges. Pre-certified PSA/DNA and RRAuction COA.
