Description

Lennon dashes off a self-portrait in a book presented to a fellow anti-war activist

Signed book: The Penguin John Lennon. Later printing. England: Penguin Books, 1965. Paperback, 5.25 x 8, 155 pages. Signed and inscribed on the first free end page, 'To Joe!, with love, John Lennon ‘71,' adding quick facial caricatures of himself and Yoko Ono under the signature, with Lennon crossing out an accidental inscription to 'Bob.' Signed page also bears a Tittenhurst Park stamp. A uniform mild shade of toning to all pages, scattered light wear and creasing to covers, and some minor creasing and separations to spine, otherwise fine condition. Accompanied by a letter of provenance stating the original recipient was American-Mexican artist Joe Logiudice, who 'received the 2 books when he visited the Tittenhurst estate in 1971, in connection with selling some art to John Lennon and Yoko Ono.' Nice relationship between two anti-war activists. Pre-certified Roger Epperson/REAL and RRAuction COA.
