Description

Harry S. Truman

TLS signed "Harry," one page, 8 x 10.5, United States Senate letterhead, June 8, 1938. Truman, as a senator from Missouri, writes John W. Snyder, manager of the Reconstruction Finance Corporation in St. Louis. In part: "There are several boys here in Washington who would be happy to drive one of the cars back, and I think just as soon as we are certain of adjournment I will pack Margaret and Bess into a couple of suit-cases and ship them back by rail, and then drive through, myself, with a helper, at a more leisurely gait." Uniform block of light toning with a slightly heavier strip along the right side, and two filing punch holes at the top of the page, otherwise fine condition. Pre-certified John Reznikoff/PSA/DNA and RRAuction COA.
