After his retirement, Ruth cuts a check to restauranteur Jimmy Donahue

Personal check, 8.5 x 3.25, filled out and signed by Ruth, payable to James Donahue for $27.90, May 18, 1938. In very good to fine condition, with several vertical and diagonal creases, one through a single letter of signature, small cancellation stamp over portion of last name, expected holes to body, and show-through from stamps on reverse. Check is almost certainly payable to famed New York and New Jersey restauranteur Jimmy Donahue, a lifetime friend of Ruth’s who fed him for over 20 years. Check originally comes from the collection of the late Reverend G. Richard McKelvey. Accompanied by a full letter of authenticity from PSA/DNA.  RRAuction COA.
