Newman was a composer, arranger, and conductor of music for films (1900–1970). He won nine Oscars, was nominated 45 times more than any other composer in film history. Darby was a collaborator with Newman, as well as a composer, vocal arranger, lyricist and conductor whose scores were recognized with three Academy Awards and one Grammy Award.
