Holy Roman Emperor who, as Charles I, also served as king of Spain. Scarce DS, in Spanish, signed “El Rey,” one page, 12 x 14.25, 1529. Charles writes a priest, Don Alonso de Luzon. In part (translated): “My chaplain is charged singer.dignitary of a preceptor…for three years…has received our singular thanks and favor.” In very good condition, with intersecting folds passing through his signature, several small tears, moderate soiling, staining from the wax seal, and show-through from handwriting on opposing sides. Documents signed by Charles are rarely encountered. RRAuction COA.
