Hungarian-born nuclear physicist (1908–2003) who worked with Fermi on the Manhattan Project and later assumed a leading role in the development of the hydrogen bomb. TLS, one page, 8.5 x 11, Hoover Institution letterhead, January 6, 1986. Letter to a Nevada reverend. In part: “Nuclear-generated electricity continues to be the safest and least environmentally damaging as well as the most economic form of large-scale energy production available in the world today…The economic, environmental, and health effects of misled decisions here in the United States are truly tragic…I continue, as you suggest, to consider the cause of peace most urgent, and am greatly encouraged by both the Strategic Defense Initiative and by the recent summit meeting.” In fine condition, with some light toning and creasing along top edge.
