Description

"I sent him the only copy of 'May Wine'...it is a script that is so prehistoric that he doesn't even believe that we went into rehearsal with it"

Two TLSs on personal letterhead, one dated March 13, 1948 regarding his chairingthe Arts and Amusements Division at Sydenham Hospital, and the other November 21, 1953, regarding a possible revival, each signed 'Oscar.' The second letter, to Frank Mandel, reads in part: 'Don Walker—remember the orchestrator?—has an idea about the revival of ‘May Wine.’ I don’t know what it is but he says he has a lot of interesting angles to submit to us. At his request I sent him the only copy of ‘May Wine’ that I could find in my files, but he says it is a script that is so prehistoric that he doesn’t even believe that we went into rehearsal with it.' In overall fine condition. RRAuction COA.
